“A postcard usually represents a journey, and when I made my first postcard for Postcards to the Universe, I had no idea how big the journey I was about to embark on would actually become. I have always been a creative soul who wanted to make a difference in the world, but I just didn’t know how. I pushed through and persisted and did what I always knew to do, I created beautiful things from my heart with my hands, yet I always knew something was missing, like Goldilocks, nothing was ever quite right and yet with a heart full of grief I persisted.
You see, I’d lost my tribe—the women I loved most in this world—my mother and my aunts to breast cancer. There were really two deaths the day my mother died because I had to learn to live in a world without her in it. These were the most amazing, strong, trailblazing tenacious women I’d ever known. I knew I needed to honor them and create my own tribe. So I decided I was going to build an army of earth angels—a tribe of people who were roughly 20% rotten and 80% good and that everyone could pick their own ratio. Angel with an Edge was born; it was just a seedling when I met Melisa, and I created my first postcard…”
